Moveable mural helps bring village vibes to Stevens Street
Occupying pride of place in the centre of historic Stevens Street, Yandina is a bright and colourful mural.
Titled “Village Vibes”, the work was unveiled by local artist Alice Graham in the presence of Division 10 Councillor David Law.
Toni Eggleston of Stevens Street Gallery initiated the project and Alice was eager to take up the challenge.
The composition exudes life and captures the essence of Yandina and the picturesque surrounds. From her vantage at Yandina Art & Framing directly across the road, Alice has long cherished the notion of contributing to the beauty of the area in a practical manner.
On completion of the season, “Village Vibes” will be offered for sale (in addition to prints).
Village Vibes’ is an abstract representation of Yandina, and it will be available for purchase when it comes off the wall to make way for the next artist.
“I would love this painting to find a new home in a day-care centre, a school or even a local eatery,” Alice said.
“It is wonderful that this opportunity is being made available to local artists and we can make this contribution to our community and visitors to our town”.
